Take the tour and sample the beers at Flying Dog.

Leesburg, VA puts you close to the Baltimore and Washington D.C. metropolitan areas, as well as the beautiful Northern Virginia countryside. This is a unique and fun place to live. Since you mentioned “unique” let’s talk about a tour of the Flying Dog Brewery.

George Stranahan, the founder of Flying Dog Brewery, is an astrophysicist with a Ph.D from Carnegie Mellon University and the founder of the Aspen Center for Physics. He is also a photographer, rancher, writer, philanthropist, and an educator who has founded three schools.

This is the dude who started the brewery. As you can imagine, the Flying Dog Beer he created is a unique concoction that locals have come to love with brews like Wildeman Farmhouse IPA and Doggie Style Classic Pale Ale.

Tours of this one-of-a-kind establishment last two hours and cost $5. The $5 covers samples and a commemorative glass. Tours take place on Thursday and Friday at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and then on Saturday at noon and 2:30 p.m.

It’s a 25-minute drive from Bellemeade Apartments, but more than worth the effort. This place is a blast.
